Loving Earth Project: Caring for the World We Love
St Mary’s will be hosting an exhibition of textile panels from the Loving Earth Project during Great Big Green Week, 18-26th September. The project originated amongst the Quaker community in Yorkshire and has now grown to over 200 panels. Selections from the collection are now touring the country, en route for the COP26 UN climate talks in Glasgow in November. The Loving Earth project celebrates people, places, creatures, and other things that we love but which are threatened by growing environmental breakdown. It offers a way to help people engage creatively and constructively with the issues, without being overwhelmed. It also offers a way to share initiatives and your reasons for taking them with a very diverse audience.
The exhibition opening hours at St Mary’s are:
Saturday 18th September: 12.00-17.00
Sunday 19th September: 12.30-17.00
Saturday 25th September: 11.00-16.00 (Workshop)
Sunday 26th September: 12.30-17.00
Sally Prendergast and David Blackmore will be jointly running a free Loving Earth workshop at St Mary’s on Saturday 25th September 1100-1600. This will provide an opportunity to reflect on the issues raised by the exhibition and to respond individually and creatively. There is no need to book – just turn up, enjoy some reflective conversations and start sketching out some ideas.
